Australian origins
Founded in the sheep yards of our family farm in Guyra, NSW. Bluey was born out of a simple question:
"Dad, what happens to our wool once it leaves our farm?"
Australia produces exceptional quality merino wool. It was once the backbone of our economy. Today, the main practice is to export Australian wool overseas, where it is mixed with lower-quality wool and then returned to us as a finished product.
We do things differently. We source our Merino wool directly from Australian wool growers, ensuring the highest quality and authenticity.
Australian Made is where it starts
It's getting harder to manufacture clothes in Australia. Large brands have shifted the focus towards quantity and profit, often opting to export Merino wool to countries with low-cost labour for manufacturing.
We're not a big brand. We're a small family business in Tassie. Our thing is making top-quality Merino gear, using wool from local Aussie farms. This is as local as it gets!
Smaller is better
Over the last five years, a lot has happened. We transitioned from weekend markets to online sales and expanded our product range to include casual gear. And then, we made the big move to Tasmania.
Tasmania was always part of our plan. We sought a simpler and more genuine lifestyle, and we found it there, especially with Tasmania's unpredictable wild weather. Believe us when we tell you that our products undergo extensive testing – we live and breathe it!
Living in Tasmania taught us that smaller is better. Instead of growing larger, we opted to stay small and concentrate on perfecting what we do. We take great pride in creating awesome products in small batches.
Despite being a small brand, our ambition knows no bounds. Those who have supported us from the beginning can attest to this. Our brand has evolved over the years, but our core values have remained strong since 2012. Our aim is to bring manufacturing back to our community, even though it is undoubtedly a challenging task. After all, what kind of nation are we if we cannot produce our own clothing? Thanks for backing us, it means a lot.
