The New Home of Bluey Merino: Quamby Estate

For Bluey Merino to truly fulfill our potential as an Australian Made brand, we’ve officially moved our business to Quamby Estate in Tasmania. During COVID, our team realised that times had changed, and our customers were longing for a more authentic shopping experience, asking about traceability, and wanting to buy more locally grown and made products.

Now, being closer to our Tasmanian growers and surrounded by wilderness, we believe our business can meet these demands and better connect Tasmania’s premium merino wool industry with the growing international outdoor industry. Here’s an inside look at our new home and what you can expect from our now Tasmanian brand.

Welcome to Our New Home: Quamby Estate

Now that we’re all settled in, we’re thrilled to introduce you to our new home in Tasmania - Quamby Estate. Located in the Meander Valley just 20 minutes from Launceston, this 150-acre Estate is one of Tasmania’s most prestigious travel destinations, offering a 10-bedroom homestead, golf course, and events pavilion.

Our space on the Estate is quite unique – it’s a horse stable that has been beautifully renovated into offices on the top floor and a golf club on the bottom floor. We’re already inspired by the Estate’s rural landscape views and mountain backdrop (and our dogs, Toby and Macy, are loving it too!)

What to Expect Next from Bluey Merino

As we continue to source and stretch the boundaries of local manufacturing, we plan to align our new season’s range with living outdoors. In Tasmania, we’re able to test our range in some of the state’s most exciting wilderness areas, which are all best suited for premium Australian merino wool products. With its colder climate, Tassie is also our source of inspiration for a new range of merino outerwear apparel, based upon our Bluey jacket heritage.

New Home, Same Commitment to Staying Local

As we move forward in Tasmania, we’re staying committed to the values that were born out of the sheep yards of our family farm in Guyra, New South Wales. We know that Australia has the highest quality premium wool in the world, so even though many brands moved manufacturing offshore to save costs, we’re promising to stay local to maintain quality, improve traceability, and support local growers.

We’re proud to be an Australian made and owned natural fibre company and believe our move to Tasmania is only strengthening Bluey Merino’s commitment to local manufacturing.

We’re Back Up & Running

Now that we’re all organised in Tasmania, our online shop is back to normal operations. We’re thrilled to have you along for the journey as we work harder than ever before, lead innovation in our industry, and share stories from our new home in Tasmania at Quamby Estate.
